I told my family that I don't want to go to these events as it contains haram (free mixed venue). They responded by saying it'll hurt them and it would look bad on them if I don’t go. They followed up by saying I can just lower my gaze and sit with the men. I responded by saying I’d rather avoid the final and please Allah by doing that. But I think they deem me as selfish as this hurts them and looks bad on them. Is this right with what I’m doing?
