I was a Christian who reverted to Islam. My wife has years ago rejected belief in God, in Christianiity and defines herself as agnostic at best. She is not favourable to Islam but has been reasonable with me being Muslim. We sleep apart and have done so for a decade, with no intimacy or physical contact. What is the status of this marriage in Islam? I have had brothers say, take a 2nd wife, qwhich just sounds like ao much stress, even though I know it is valid, and a pious hijabi would be a spiritual companionship that I miss.

Assalum alaikum. I would like a definitive Islamic ruling about my marriage. My wife converted to Orthodoxy at my insistence in 1992 before we married. She gave up church after a few years. She would define herself as not a Christian today. I am legally married still. I might add for context, that we do not have marital relations- have not had any contact in that way for 15 plus years and sleep in separate bedrooms. What is my status Islamically? It would only be the direction of Allah swt that could make her revert. I am 63, and as much as I would like a Muslimah wife, I don’t;t think it realistic or sensible. I would welcome your advice.
